DRIVEWAYS, DRAINAGE
& SITE WORK.
Build the access, control the water and prepare the ground so the property works in every season.
More than surface grading
FIX THE REASON IT KEEPS FAILING.
Ruts, potholes, soft areas, washouts and standing water are symptoms. A lasting repair starts by understanding where the water comes from and how the erosion is caused. We assess whether the base is adequate, how the driveway is crowned or sloped and where runoff can safely go.
Wes assesses your property as one system. Sometimes the answer is a focused refresh. Sometimes the driveway needs drainage correction, new material or reconstruction. The objective is to complete the work that the property actually requires—not repeatedly hide the same problem.
Common problems
READ THE WATER. UNDERSTAND THE BASE.
The visible damage usually points to a larger issue in drainage, material, shaping or compaction.
POTHOLES & RUTTING
Repeated surface failure caused by trapped water, weak material, failed shaping, traffic patterns or inadequate materials or compaction.
WASHOUTS & EROSION
Runoff travelling along or across the driveway without a controlled route or protected outlet.
SOFT OR SEEPING AREAS
Saturated or insufficient base that cannot reliably carry vehicles, deliveries or construction traffic. Issues with the base must be remediated first.
STANDING WATER
Low areas, blocked drainage or surrounding grades that direct water toward the used and developed areas must be properly corrected not covered up.
Your Driveway
SHAPE, DRAIN, BUILD, COMPACT.
Driveway performance depends on more than the tread. It depends on the work below and around the finished surface. We specialize in:
- New rural and private-road access
- Driveway remediation and reshaping
- Crowning, grading and aggregate placement
- Ditches, swales and drainage corrections
- Culvert installation and replacement
- Soft-area excavation and base repair
- Parking, turnaround and construction-access areas
- Final compaction and clean site transitions
Choose the work the driveway needs
REFRESH, REPAIR OR REBUILD.
Not every driveway requires reconstruction—but not every failing driveway can be solved with another thin layer of gravel.
REFRESH
Reshape an otherwise sound driveway, restore drainage, properly address the grass centre, add suitable surface material and compact.
TARGETED REPAIR
Correct drainage, replace a culvert, excavate a soft area or rebuild a failed section while retaining what is performing properly.
RECONSTRUCTION
Re-establish alignment, drainage, base and surface where the existing access is fundamentally inadequate for its use.
Water decides what lasts
DRAINAGE IS PART OF THE DRIVEWAY.
A good access route moves water away from the driving surface without simply transferring the problem to a building, neighbour, shoreline or unstable slope.
We consider the surrounding catchment, roadside flow, outlet conditions and future site development before selecting the practical correction. Culverts, ditches and swales are located and shaped as part of the complete access—not added after the surface begins to fail.
How the work proceeds
ASSESS. CORRECT. BUILD. COMPACT.
01 ASSESS
Review use, grades, drainage paths, failure areas and access constraints.
02 CORRECT
Address water, weak base, culverts and shaping before finishing the surface.
03 BUILD
Place and shape suitable material for the traffic and conditions the access must carry.
04 COMPACT
Compact deliberately, finish transitions and leave drainage routes working cleanly.
A good fit
ACCESS WITH A REAL JOB TO DO.
We are best suited to rural, coastal and difficult-access properties where grades, drainage, future construction or recurring failure require more thought than a quick grading pass.
- Private and absentee landowners
- Tourism and accommodation properties
- Builders requiring construction access or site preparation
- Multi-phase property development
- Driveways with recurring water or base problems
